TRAINING AND MENTORING

Work with Alice to transform the challenges you face in your organisation.

The session with Alice was brilliant. We all learned so much, and Alice made the entire session so enjoyable and interactive. She created a wonderful safe space where we all felt we could talk openly and freely. Alice has a wonderfully infectious energy that makes working with her a complete joy. We couldn't recommend Alice more highly than we already do to anyone thinking of working with her.

Amy Clarke, Tribe Impact Capital

I was worried about having a 3 hour long online session on Zoom, but the three hours flew by, and our team experienced a deeper connection that I thought possible online. I thought Alice’s introduction to Needs Understanding was thorough, very relevant to our team, relatable and resonant. It was very well paced and engaging throughout. I think everyone on the session got a lot out of it that they can use in their personal and professional lives.

Niamh Scullion, Eden Project

Thank you so much for the AMAZING day – so much positive feedback. Thank you for the quality of warmth and precision you brought. I wish we had more than one day, and look forward to working together in future.

SPEAKING

Where did I put my glasses?

Round Sunglasses

In the busy-ness of the modern workplace, it can feel too difficult or too time-consuming to explore new ideas that can help us in life at home and at work. And if we do discover different tools and approaches, we can feel as though we just don't have space or time to put them into practice.

Being able to see the world through the lens of shared human needs is an intuitive way of making sense of the world that can start to shift our perspective right from the outset. In this talk, I'll show you how to look through 'needs glasses', and make sense of yourself and those around you in a way that can give you new insights into how you want to live and work.

What's your fingerprint?

Each of us has a handful of fingerprint needs - usually around two to five - but we haven't been introduced to them yet. When we know what our fingerprint needs are, we can make sense of situations that previously baffled us - for example, why we 'see red' in certain situations (usually especially with our children, our partners and our parents), why some things seem to affect us when they don't really touch other people, and why we find some people so much more difficult than others.

TRAINING AND MENTORING

IS NEEDS UNDERSTANDING RIGHT FOR MY ORGANISATION?

Needs Understanding can help businesses, public sector organisations, NGOs and community groups. Needs Understanding includes skills that can help you to:

  • listen and speak in ways which consistently create more supportive, understanding, enjoyable connections with clients and colleagues

  • understand what is at the core of difficult situations and know how to develop creative new win-win solutions

  • make requests that others want to say 'yes' to

  • hold meetings which people want to come to

  • negotiate so that everyone is satisfied

  • set goals and offer effective feedback

  • resolve the core of conflicts so they don't replay over and over again

  • say 'no' in a way which can be more easily heard by the other

  • communicate effectively across divisions without giving up on what's important to you

  • foster a work environment which values emotional intelligence, respect and compassion as well as outstanding success

  • inspire your team with new energy and ideas

WHAT DO YOU OFFER AS PART OF YOUR TRAINING AND MENTORSHIP PACKAGES?

Before doing any work for you, I want to understand what you need, and how we'll make sure that the training and / or mentoring delivers the outcomes you're looking for.

Here are a few examples of how a day with me could look:

  • A morning of training with one of your teams, followed by afternoon mentoring sessions with three individuals

  • A day of training offering the same session in the morning and in the afternoon to two different teams, then a talk in the evening to clients

  • A day of training with the same group, offering one module in the morning, and one in the afternoon

Training

Needs Understanding training is divided into four skill areas:

  • Listening

  • Understanding yourself

  • Speaking to be heard

  • Acting with care for all needs

A foundation training in Needs Understanding involves a half day module in each of the four areas. Going deeper might involve focusing on one or two of the four areas, or working across the board with all of them. It all depends on what your particular needs are.

Mentoring

Mentoring sessions can be with an individual or a small group. A session lasts either 60 minutes or 90 minutes and involves helping your team to apply Needs Understanding in order to find ways forward with whatever challenges you are facing.
